Dr. Walsh earned her medical degree from the National University of Ireland Galway and underwent Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology specialty training at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She subsequently pursued a PhD at the National University of Ireland Galway where she studied subtyping of Triple Negative Breast Cancer and the impact of subtypes on clinical outcomes. She then completed a medical oncology fellowship in the Breast and Ovarian Cancer Program at The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Center at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore. Dr. Walsh’s research efforts to date have focused on outcomes and new therapeutic strategies in triple negative breast cancer. More recently, her work has focused on the development of novel biomarkers that predict resistance to therapy, thereby facilitating the development of new therapeutic strategies. Her work also seeks to advance the understanding of the mechanisms of resistance to therapies with the overarching goal to develop more personalized therapies to treat breast cancer.
