About Us

For more than 85 years, The Barry Robinson Center has been improving the lives of children and families. The Center offers a residential treatment program for boys and girls, ages 6-17, with mental health issues, including a dual diagnosis program for teens with substance use issues. The Center also offers community-based services including a treatment foster care program and ABA services. Children and teens from military-connected families will find a supportive community here. Our treatment programs have been designed to help children and teens from military-connected families find understanding and acceptance, which contributes to their success in treatment. Many of our employees served in the military, and we are committed to training all employees in military lifestyle and culture. The Center provides a holistic environment that sets children, teens and families on the path to healing. Our staff includes qualified and compassionate therapists, teachers, counselors, doctors, nurses and dietitians. Our 32-acre open college-like campus on the border of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia, combines modern residential facilities with several original colonial-style buildings dating to 1933. This combination makes it one of the most beautiful and unique residential treatment centers in the region. Our campus provides a safe and serene setting for programs designed to help youth and their families overcome emotional and behavioral difficulties.
